MCM Expo Smashes World Record

Last Saturday, organisers at the London MCM Expo, managed to smash another world record. Their first world record was set for having the most people gathered dressed in costumes from a video game. This year they wanted to beat the Australians in having the largest handheld games console party. The record was 381 people. Not any more…..

On Saturday more than 580 people registered and attended the world record attempt, smashing the record in great style.

Damian Field, Guinness World Records’ Official Adjudicator, commented: “It is a tremendous achievement for the MCM Expo to reach a number of 586, smashing the existing world record of 381. It’s rare for a UK mass participation to reach over 500.”

Not only was this record smashed, this weekends event also saw the biggest amount of visitors in the shows history. Over 41,000 people attended over the weekend, making this the most successful show yet. The MCM Expo is fast becoming Europe’s answer to the San Diego Comic Con.

It was an amazing sight, seeing all those people in the main stage area, switching on their DS’s. It’s a credit to all of the organisers, showcasing just how popular this event is becoming. Congratulations to all of those involved.
