One of the first games I rushed out to buy for my DS was the brilliant noir-esque detective mystery Hotel Dusk: Room 215. The game introduced us to Kyle Hyde in his search for his lost partner, Brian Bradley. The game had a great graphical presence to it, emulating a graphic novel, with a strong story, great puzzles and well written characters, this has proved to be one of my all time favourite DS games.
Now nearly after three years the sequel has finally been announced. Due to be released in Japan next month, the new game entitled Last Window: Midnight Promise, sees players once again taking control of Kyle Hyde. Set a year after the events in Hotel Dusk, players are promised a brand new story with a few links appearing in a nod to the original game. The game will be based in the Cape West Apartments, Los Angeles.
Also new to the game will be the ignore feature, allowing players to ignore certain lines of questioning, which they don’t find relevant to the case at hand. Players will also find themselves unlocking new chapters of a new in game book called Last Window. You will be able to unlock these chapters by completing chapters in the actual game, the contents of the book will complement the main games story, with the player influencing what the book says by their in game decisions.
The game will be released in Japan on the 14th January, no news yet of when it will be released elsewhere. More news as we get it.
