  • Review | Victoria II
    by Traci B.
    Posted September 4th, 2010 at 10:00 am
There were admittedly some reservations as I opened up Victoria II for the first time. Not only have I not played the original one before, but I’m a regular player of other tactical series specializing in the same aspect, so it would be difficult not to compare the two. For those of you who are unaware, Victoria II is a real-time strategy game, and your task is to control a nation in 1836. Essentially, you must undergo political reforms, colonization, military enhancement and aim to ultimately...

    Posted September 4th, 2010 at 1:25 am
Yes, hell has finally frozen over.  Earlier today at the PAX Prime in Seattle, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford confirmed that Duke Nukem Forever has completed its development stage.  On top of that good news, Pitchford announced that the title will be released in 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Duke Nukem Forever had been in development since 1997 and continued to be in "development hell" after the problems that lied within Duke's former development company 3D Realms.  Pitchford stat...

  • Switching From Third to First-Person Gives a Whole New Perspective
    by Matt R.
    Posted August 31st, 2010 at 11:19 pm
Ever wondered what Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV would have looked like had it have been a first-person shooter, rather than a third-person? Well, wonder no more! The video below is a mod for the PC version of the game and it shows the detail of the lovingly crafted city. Although not ideal for playing purposes, it gives the game a whole new perspective as you realise how much time and care went into building the game’s world. The towering buildings become more imposing; comic signs bec...

All game packages will come with a 30 day free trial period, but follow...
  • Review | Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
    by Matt R.
    Posted August 27th, 2010 at 10:00 am
Arcade games are frequently considered the younger, immature brother of mainstream releases, but summer 2010 will be remembered as the moment that this image was thrown out of the window. With many gamers still coming to terms with the success of Limbo, Crystal Dynamics is rounding off Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade with an almost perfect title: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Although the return of Lara under her new guise as an arcade game hasn’t set every fanboy’s pulse racing, t...

Shoppers at six of the UK's city centre shopping malls also have the chance to get some hands-on time with the game at Joe's Mafia II Barber Shop. If that wasn’t enough, everybody who sees the barber’s chair will also receive a special leaflet, courtes...
  • Impulse: Don’t Buy Our Games [Update]
    by Traci B.
    Posted August 25th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
UPDATE: We would like to point out that the statement we reported regarding the Gamer's Bill of Rights is incorrect. Our source linked to an old, broken link -- the BoR can still be accessed at its usual location. My oh my. Brad Wardell, you certainly have quite the temper on you. For those who haven't yet gotten a look at this glorious turn of events, Stardock -- of whom Mr. Wardell is the CEO -- recently released a game called Elemental: War of Magic for the PC. Nothing unusual in this p...
